What Is N-power?

According to Wikipedia, the N-Power is a scheme set up by the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari since 8 June 2016, to address the issues of youth unemployment and help increase social development.

The scheme was created as a component of National Social Investment Program, to provide a structure for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition and development and to ensure that each participant will learn and practice most of what is necessary to find or create work.

N-Power was created on 8 June 2016 to address the issues of youth unemployment and help increase social development. The scheme is created for unemployed graduates and non-graduates between the ages of 18 and 35. It is a paid programme of a two-year duration, aimed at engaging beneficiaries in their states of residence.

On 13 July 2019, Nigerian federal government disclosed that they have spent a total of ₦279b since they started paying the scheme beneficiaries from December 2016 to June 2019. The scheme currently has six categories namely; N-Teach, N-Health, N-Agro, N-Build, N-Creative and N-Tech.

N-Teach and N-Health are available to only graduates who must have completed the mandatory one year NYSC programme, while N-Agro, N-Build, N-Creative and N-Tech is available to graduates and non-graduates.

N-Power program is aimed to provide the Nigerian youths with opportunities to gain skills for employability and entrepreneurship which will also go along way in assisting the country towards the post-COVID-19 economic recovery.

Recently, “The Honorable Minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq, re-assured Nigerians that due diligence will be applied during the next stages of the selection to ensure that only duly qualified applicants are enrolled.

She further stated that the applicants, as well as the general public, are kept fully informed on the progress of the scheme.”

The foregoing statements depict that the screening process may be a strict one and applicants that wish to be enrolled need to be prepared. This is a result of the number of persons that applied compared to the number of persons that are expected to be absorbed into the programme.

So how do you prepare for npower screening exercise and be at a better side of getting enrolled?

It is no mystery, he that failed to prepare has already prepared to fail.

Thus, as an n-power applicant, there are certain things you need to do before you can be enrolled and we shall be showing them here.

Here are some of the basic things you need to have in no particular order to be at a safer side.

i. Your original certifications

Irrespective of the npower batch c programme you have applied for, you will need to have your documents handy. The reason is that during the physical screening exercise, you will be required to provide them. So if you don’t have your documemts ready, make sure you make hast while you still have the time

2. There may be an online test – search the web for npower previous questions and answers materials and read them.

The previous npower batches i.e. A & B undertook online examinations. To be able to passed those tests with good grade which will qualify you for the preselection exercise, you will be to read some materials that covers questions and answers.

3. Submit your test before the stop time

The first stage of npower screening exercise starts the day the portal was closed for online registration. That is why not all the applicants that have applied for the recruitment will be contact for online test. If you have been shortlisted for the online test, turn on your device, open the npower portal, login your profile using your email address and password and start the test. Here is how to login npower portal.

  • Enter https://npower.fmhds.gov.ng/login in your browser and click on the search button to continue
  • On the page that appears, enter your email address
  • Enter your password
  • Lastly, click on the login button and you will be taken to your profile

Those are the steps you need to follow to login your npower profile. It is that simple.

Now, you will need to locate the take test button and start your test. There may be more than one tests. Make sure you take all the tests.

It is important you submit your test on time. This will trigger the impression that you are not surfing the internet for answers as no one will be there to monitor you.
